DESCRIPTION:FotoFocus is excited to continue their sponsorship of the 2023 Aperture PhotoBook Club. \nThe next gathering will take place on August 16 to discuss Nashville-based artist Kristine Potter’s second monograph Dark Waters. Dark Waters continues Potter’s engagement with the American landscape as a palimpsest for cultural ideologies. In this brooding series\, Potter reflects on the Southern landscape as evoked in the popular imagination of “murder ballads.” \nTo discuss this work and the process of interweaving different forms of storytelling through a photobook\, I will be joined by the artist alongside the ever-evocative writer Rebecca Bengal\, who contributed a short story to Dark Waters\, Julia Schäfer\, the immensely talented book designer\, and Aperture’s own Lesley A.
