SUMMARY:World Record: 2022 FotoFocus Biennial Exhibitions Panel
DESCRIPTION:Katherine Ryckman Siegwarth\, Biennial Director of FotoFocus\, will moderate a discussion with regional curators regarding current exhibitions for the 2022 FotoFocus Biennial: World Record. The FotoFocus Biennial\, the largest photography biennial in America\, presents over 100 projects at 90 venues throughout the month of October\, including museums\, galleries\, universities\, and public spaces throughout Greater Cincinnati\, Northern Kentucky\, Dayton\, and Columbus\, Ohio. \nPanelists include:\nMaria Seda-Reeder\, Director of Exhibitions and Artist Support Initiatives at Wave Pool: A Contemporary Art Fulfillment Center\, venue for exhibition\, Photography and Tenderness \nJason E. Shaiman\, Curator of Exhibitions at Miami University Art Museum and curator of A Lens for Freedom: Civil Rights Photography by Steve Schapiro and co-curator of PhotOH: Photographers in the Heartland. \nPepper Stetler\, curator of Craft and Camera: The Art of Nancy Ford Cones at Taft Museum of Art and Associate Professor of Art and Architecture History at Miami University \n  \nAbout the 2022 MWSPE Regional Conference: This year’s theme highlights works concerned with the ebb and flow of social\, political\, and artistic trends and how these tropes and themes can return with differing focus and intensity. This conference and corresponding exhibitions focus on the incoming swell of ideas\, explorations\, and concerns of artists within the Midwest and how they see\, process\, and contextualize the recurrence and reemergence of social\, political\, and artistic tropes and trends in their own practices. In turn\, this conference will serve as an artistic interpretation of world events / records from the perspective of artists from across the Midwest. \nAccess to the entire FotoFocus Biennial Program Week is a benefit of being a 2022 FotoFocus Biennial Passport holder.
