DESCRIPTION:Spotlight Weekends highlight FotoFocus Participating Venues within specific geographic locations where artists and curators will be on site for talks\, tours\, special events\, and featured programming. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of the FotoFocus Biennial\, exploring art within the communities that create and present it. \nTo celebrate the Participating Venues in the greater Dayton region\, FotoFocus has arranged a free\, round-trip bus tour from Cincinnati\, OH to Dayton\, OH on Saturday\, October 26. Passport Holder exclusive\, seating is limited. \nAt this time\, RSVPs for the Dayton Bus Tour are CLOSED.  \n  \nOCTOBER 26 DAYTON BUS TOUR SCHEDULE \n10:00am Wright State University \nDaniel McInnis: Elementary. A photographic survey of teachers\, staff\, and administrators in Toledo-area elementary schools. Curator: Tracy Longley-Cook \nReWritten: Photographers Reshaping the Narrative. Photographers reshape the narrative capacities of their medium by conjuring visual relationships and critique with disruptive beauty and deeper perspectives. Curator: Marcella Hackbardt \nGallery Tour for ReWritten led by Benjamin Montague\, Associate Professor of Photography. Gallery talk for Elementary led by Curator Tracy Longley-Cook \n11:30am Stivers School for the Arts: Fifth Street Gallery \nLabyrinth: A Paula Kraus Retrospective. Kraus’ artistic contribution is acknowledged in a retrospective of diverse and imaginative work created over the course of her life.  \nGallery Tour led by Leah Stahl\, Director of Photography and Media Arts \n12:15pm  Dayton Society of Artists \nMidwest Americana. The multifaceted essence of the Midwest is explored through photography and storytelling that endeavors to unearth its forgotten history. \nGallery Talk led by Francis Schanberger\, Juror \n2:15pm The Contemporary Dayton \nCurtis Mann: Precious Blood. Installation centered on the artist’s hometown of Dayton\, OH\, as he revisits and evolves his signature technique. \nSean Wilkinson: Flora. Intentionally throwing the image out of focus\, Wilkinson surrenders precision and clarity to emphasize the reference and suggest something else. \nGallery Tour led by Eva Buttacavoli\, Executive Director\, and potential Artist Talks with Curtis Mann and Sean Wilkinson \n2:45pm University of Dayton: Index Gallery \nOn Location & Care. Features Emmaline Carter and Stephanie Cuyubamba Kong\, whose works navigate space\, identity\, and how they intertwine. Curator: Jesse Ly. \nGalleries Director Nicholaus Arnold and Curator Jesse Ly on-site  \n3:15pm Dayton Art Institute \nDevil’s Promenade. Lara Shipley and Antone Dolezal combine folklore\, local history\, and present-day photographs of Ozark people\, land\, and interpretive images to engage the living mythology of the Spook Light. \nGallery Talk with Mariah Postlewait\, Kettering Curator of Photography and Special Projects \n4:00pm University of Dayton: Roger Glass Center for the Arts \nThe Devil Hiding in Plain Sight. Zora J Murff’s work demonstrates how a global conspiracy of anti-Black genocide continues to persist through systemic oppression. \nGallery Talk with Faculty Curator Glenna Jennings \n5:00pm Rosewood Arts Center & Reception  \nCara Lee Wade: Fossil Poetry. Documentation of the interplay between plants\, place\, and light created through lumen prints with photosensitive paper. \nMichael Reese: Decoding Polaris. Mixed-media cyanotypes explore the celestial mapping\, symbols\, and codes utilized by enslaved people in the American South. \nOpening Reception with artists on-site.
