The 2024 FotoFocus Biennial: backstories included 107 projects at 86 Participating Venues across Greater Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, and Northern Kentucky—the largest of its kind in America. These projects featured international, national, and regional artists and curators, focusing on stories that are not evident at first glance—offering context for what happened previously or out of view, providing narratives not yet told or presented from a new perspective.

Creative Time and FotoFocus held The Convening, a series of critical dialogues, artist interventions, and performances at various locations across Cincinnati on October 20 & 21, 2023. Featuring artists, critics, curators, and other distinguished guest speakers, the 2023 Symposium was structured loosely around three earth-based thematics—land, waterways, and trees, and brought together national and local artists, activists, and thinkers whose work considers histories of land, particularly American histories that coalesced in the Cincinnati region. FotoFocus Symposium: Telephotography Video Gallery

Originally set for October 2021 and rescheduled due to Covid’s Delta variant, the FotoFocus Symposium: Telephotography took place last month on April 9 and 10, 2022. Through a series of panels, lectures, and film screenings, attendees had the opportunity to engage with artists and academics as they discussed both historic and current themes in photography.
