2026 Biennial
Depth of Field
Depth of Field highlights the work of student artists from the Art Academy of Cincinnati who consider the present state of their medium and its possible future directions. The exhibition uses “depth of field” to frame how emerging artists balance what is in front of them with what lies ahead. The selected works represent a moment in time, showing current ideas, approaches, and concerns, while also pointing toward the new directions that may shape artistic practice in years to come. Student artists are in a unique position to question what has been established, test new ways of working, and make connections across different disciplines. Their perspectives demonstrate that “the long view” is not only about the future, but also the present—when the promise of future potential can be best envisioned.
