2026 Biennial
Wayfarers
Instructor Steve Groh leads students by mapping out and documenting his journey in photography, ultimately encouraging his students to envision and illustrate their own paths. Wayfarers displays three views: Groh’s own path, illustrated through one-on-one sojourns with those significant to his development as artist and teacher; his current students’ work, imbued with their own histories and future longings; and former students’ photographs, evoking further introspections, hopes, and fears. Groh inspires each of his students to travel back into the past and forward into the unknown, and to capture key moments with dedication and heart. As fellow travelers of their own long roads, viewers can experience the personal expeditions of others through the lenses of “wayfarers” at different stages of their journeys.
